A Grand Rapids brewery is planning an $800,000 expansion.

Harmony Brewing Company, at 1551 Lake Dr. SE, will head to the Grand Rapids Planning Commission on June 8 to expand its restaurant and taproom.

Bear Manor Properties, which is the ownership company of Harmony Brewing Company, is proposing an expansion of its taproom and food and beverage service to include 1540 Wealthy St. SE, a building that currently houses a Subway.

Bear Manor Properties is owned by Barry Van Dyke, Jackson Van Dyke and Heather Van Dyke-Titus. Harmony opened in 2012 and a second location, called Harmony Hall, opened on Bridge Street in 2015.

Harmony’s investment would cover the acquisition of the building, façade improvements, interior build out and equipment.

The brewery is looking to expand its full bar service to the proposed area, but it will not produce any beer in the new area.

Bear Manor Properties is also seeking a license to serve its beer and pizza for takeout and delivery.

The expansion is expected to result in the addition of 10-15 employees.

To date, Bear Manor Properties has spent more than $4 million in acquisitions and renovations of 13 residential and five commercial projects in the Uptown neighborhood.
