The Lonely Island trio — comedians Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer — would be proud of Grand Valley State University.

The GVSU recruitment video “Laker for a Lifetime — I'm on a Boat” parodies The Lonely Island’s Grammy-nominated song “I’m on a Boat” and has won a 2013 Circle of Excellence Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

The video was one of 300 entries that won out of the more than 2,900 CASE nominations, earning a silver for "demonstrating exceptional quality in a video," GVSU said.

The video — which features the cast around campus — is a tongue-in-cheek, GVSU-themed twist to the beat and tune of the hit single and was produced by GVSU’s News and Information Services.

The entire production crew and cast are all GVSU students, faculty or alumni. Even GVSU President Thomas Haas has a scene.

The video has been viewed more than 41,000 times so far on GVSU’s YouTube channel.
