A wealth management firm in the region is planning to open an office downtown.

Kalamazoo-based Greenleaf Trust said today that it will open its first location in Grand Rapids this fall, on the ground floor of 25 Ottawa Ave. SW.

“We’re enthusiastically making a significant investment in Grand Rapids,” said Michael Odar, president, Greenleaf Trust.

Greenleaf’s space will initially be staffed by five employees with expertise in wealth management, family and foundation services, trusts and estates and retirement plan services.

The office will be headed by Thomas DeMeester and John Grzbyek.

DeMeester will serve as the managing director, and Grzybek will serve as director of the office's family services offering.

The six-story building was purchased by Kalamazoo-based Catalyst Development in February.

The firm will lease the ground-floor space to Greenleaf Trust.

Greenleaf will be joined at the building by several other tenants: Spectrum Health’s Information Technology Department, Fairly Painless Advertising and Iron restaurant.
