West Michigan attorneys win statewide honors

A trio of attorneys from West Michigan have been named to the 2015 class of Michigan Women in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

Mary Ann Cartwright, attorney with Rhoades McKee, Charissa Huang, attorney with Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, and Susan Gell Meyers, attorney with Warner Norcross & Judd, are among the 30 honorees being recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

The publication’s Michigan Women in the Law awards program salutes high-achieving female lawyers in Michigan and their accomplishments.

The class will be honored at a luncheon on Sept. 10 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy.

The honorees will choose the 2015 Woman of the Year by secret ballot, and the result will be announced at the luncheon.

Mary Ann Cartwright

Rhoades McKee’s Cartwright focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment, schools and public sector, health care and workers compensation.

She represents public, private and nonprofits and handles litigation in administrative, state and federal courts.

Charissa Huang

Smith Haughey’s Huang represents individuals and businesses in employment and commercial litigation matters.

She focuses on securing compensation for those damaged by negligent behavior or wrongful conduce, which includes vehicular, aviation, premises and workplace accidents.

Susan Gell Meyers

Warner Norcross’ Meyers focuses her practice on estate and tax planning for individuals, owners of family and other closely held businesses and professionals.

Her work includes succession planning shareholder agreements, vacation home planning and planning for same-sex couples.

She is the chair of the firm’s trusts and estates practice group.
