A pair of employers in the region have announced their support for the Fair Chance Business Pledge.

Grand Rapids-based Butterball Farms, a manufacturer of premium tabletop butters, and Battle Creek-based Kellogg Company said this month they’ve joined with the Obama administration and more than 300 U.S. companies to launch the Fair Chance Business Pledge.

All the Michigan employers that have signed the pledge are listed below.

The pledge advocates that all members of the private sector “improve their communities by eliminating barriers for those with a criminal record and create a pathway for a second chance,” according to Butterball.

Butterball said it applauds those taking action to help Americans who have been through the criminal justice system.

“When almost 70 million Americans — nearly one in three adults — have a criminal record, it is important to remove unnecessary barriers that may prevent these individuals from gaining access to employment, training, education and other basic tools required for success in life,” said Bonnie Mroczek, chief talent officer, Butterball Farms. “We are committed to providing individuals with criminal records, including formerly incarcerated individuals, a fair chance to participate in the American economy.”

The company owns numerous brands: Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, Corn Flakes, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Special K, Cocoa Krispies, Keebler, Pringles, Pop-Tarts, Kashi, Cheez-It, Eggo, Nutri-Grain, Morningstar Farms and more.
