West Michigan restaurants top wine list

Bistro Bella Vita in downtown Grand Rapids is a local pioneer in serving farm-to-table fare.

Six West Michigan restaurants are on Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Award Winners list, including two downtown Grand Rapids establishments.

Divani, 15 Ionia Ave. SW, and Bistro Bella Vita, 44 Grandville Ave. SW, are the two downtown restaurants making the wine publication’s list, which includes nearly 3,600 restaurants across the U.S. and the globe. The 2017 list is the first appearance for both Grand Rapids restaurants.

Both Divani and Bistro Bella Vita earned the first level of Wine Spectator’s awards, Award of Excellence.

Noto’s Old World Italian Dining, 6600 28th St. SE, also makes the list, which it has made since 2006. Noto’s was recognized in the second level as Best of Award of Excellence.

Public, 131 E. Main St. in Zeeland, and Butch’s Dry Dock, 44 E. 8th St. in Holland, also made the list. Public was an Award of Excellence recipient while Butch’s; earned a Best of Award of Excellence.

In Kalamazoo, Webster’s Prime, 100 W. Michigan Ave., made the list with an Award of Excellence.
