West Michigan town is No. 1 ‘small city to start a business’ in US

A town in the region has been ranked as the most entrepreneur-friendly small city in the nation.

Holland tops the 2019 ranking of “Best Small Cities to Start a Business” by WalletHub, a personal finance website.

Holland also snagged the top spot in 2018 and 2017.

To create the ranking, WalletHub compared more than 1,200 small cities across 18 key metrics, from average growth in number of small businesses to investor access and labor costs.

The ranking is based on cities with a population of between 25,000 and 100,000 residents, excluding the metro area.

Kalamazoo is No. 296, while Muskegon is No. 693.
