A new coffee shop on the city’s West Side has closed.

The Sparrows Coffee & Tea & Newsstand closed its second location in town, at 442 Bridge St. NW, according to a comment by the business on an Instagram post yesterday.

“Unfortunately, our Bridge St. location is closed,” the company says on Instagram. “Hoping for a sub-leaser in the front, so it can still be a cafe! We’ll post when we know more.”

The company has not offered further comment on the post and couldn't be reached by phone at press time.

Sparrows initially planned to open its Bridge Street location last June to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original Wealthy Street location, according to a previous Business Journal article.

The Bridge Street café opened last October, according to a Facebook post by Sparrows.

The company expected to hire 10 people for the new location.

The Sparrows at 1035 Wealthy St. SE is open for business.
