Could someone in your house use some help with the laundry?
Benton Harbor-based Whirlpool Corporation, a global manufacturer of appliances, has developed WashSquad, a free app for Apple iOS devices.
The app serves as an information hub for laundry tips, as well as a message and activity board for families to make laundry more of a family wide chore.
The WashSquad app was created based on consumer insight uncovering that 44 percent of U.S. households have one person responsible for laundry, said Shana Redd, Whirlpool brand laundry manager.
And 62 percent of the more than 50 million laundry champions say they are perfectly content with this fact, because they feel they have a hard time delegating tasks and obtaining their desired results, she said.
The app allows users to assign laundry tasks to family members, as well as track and reward their laundry task completions.
It also allows users to consult the app’s Stain Eraser and Fabric Coach features with laundry questions, as well as a guide on washers and dryers.
“Whirlpool’s goal for the app is to provide consumers with simple technology that enables them to tackle their daily tasks seamlessly,” Redd said. “This app is aimed to instill confidence in users that their laundry duties will be completed the way they desire. This app is perfect for keeping families organized, while providing them with the knowledge of laundry experts right in their homes.”
The WashSquad app is optimized iPhone 5 and requires iOS 6.0 or later.
Whirlpool also launched the Smart Grid app earlier this year to be compatible with their line of smart appliances, Redd said. “
The app gives users the ability to manage appliances’ energy usage from anywhere and control key features remotely.
