A Montreal-based women’s activewear retailer is opening its first Michigan store along a popular main street.

Lolë — which stands for live out loud every day — said today that it plans to open a store in East Grand Rapids’ Gaslight Village in March, occupying the former Smooch Beauty Boutique space, at 2213 Wealthy St. SE.

The Lolë store, called Lolë Grand Rapids, will be owned and operated by Gazelle Sports, a sportswear retailer, said Joan Orman, a Gazelle Sports spokesperson.

Lolë’s “feminine” activewear can transition from athletic uses to “the art museum or night spot,” said Jill Bromley, Lolë Grand Rapids manager.

The Gaslight Village store plans to collaborate with local fitness centers, yoga studios and nutritionists, as well as offer classes and clinics for the community.

The store is hiring part-time employees, and anyone interested in applying should email jbromley at lolegrandrapids dot com.

Lolë opened its first U.S. store in Salt Lake City last spring.
