Citing the need to provide job-search resources to those living in poverty, a regional workforce development agency has opened a satellite site at a social services nonprofit.

West Michigan Works! will offer resume and cover letter writing and other employment services from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays at North Kent Community Services in Rockford, at 10075 Northland Dr. NE.

The services are free of charge and open to all.

Visitors to the North Kent Community Services location will be able to use its computer lab, printing and fax services as part of the partnership with West Michigan Works!

“Employers are looking for talent. This new location will offer a variety of job-search resources to make that connection,” said Jacob Maas, CEO, West Michigan Works!.

North Kent Community Services Executive Director Claire Guisfredi said the satellite location will focus on helping those in poverty gain “livable-wage employment.”

“People need the right skills to be competitive in the workforce,” Guisfredi said. “To have this vital resource available to people at NKCS will impact northern Kent County in a powerful way.”
