A workplace design firm has opened a second office in Grand Rapids.

In order to accommodate growth, Custer said today it is occupying 55,000 square feet of office space at 320 Hall St. SW. The purchase price of the building was not disclosed.

Custer contracted Grand Rapids-based Pioneer Construction for the $3-million, year-long renovation. Grand Rapids-based Mercantile Bank provided the loan for the project.

The renovated space offers a new home for the company’s audio visual, or AV, technology department and an R&D lab for the AV team, as well as 45,000 square feet of warehouse space for the operations and distributions teams.

The space accommodates 50 employees and has room for growth.

The office features multiple conference and collaborative settings, private offices and workstations and a work café. Custer also made updates to the surrounding landscape and parking lots.

“320 Hall demonstrates Custer’s continued growth and supports the expansion of our growing technology department and custom design services,” said Scott Custer, VP of new ventures and investments, Custer. “We have been working hard all year adding finishing touches to the building, and we are excited to share the new space with our employees, clients and the community.”

President Todd Custer will serve as the head of the new office.

Custer’s headquarters at 217 Grandville Ave. SW will continue to house its design, sales and administration teams.

Custer offers a number of technical capabilities: video and audio conferencing; room scheduling; space utilization and analysis; interactive displays and whiteboards; content sharing; video walls; interactive signage; and more.
