World Affairs Council welcoming Chinese ambassador

A nonprofit that’s dedicated to educating the region on “other countries and cultures” is producing its annual celebration downtown.

The World Affairs Council of Western Michigan’s 69th anniversary luncheon will be on Feb. 8 from noon to 1:45 p.m. in the Ambassador Ballroom at the Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids, at 187 Monroe Ave. NW.

Cui Tiankai, Chinese ambassador to the U.S., and R. Nicholas Burns, former under secretary of state for political affairs for the U.S. Department of State, will participate in a moderated conversation on U.S.-China relations.

Tickets are $200 are members and $250 for non-members.
