In partnership with Kids’ Food Basket, the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids on Wednesday will begin providing free lunch and dinner sack meals for food-insecure children.
A parent or guardian of any child 18 and younger may pick up sack meals for their children on weekdays at five locations starting March 18 through at least April 3, according to the Y.
“We are committed to supporting our community’s health and well-being during this time, said Nicole Hansen, district executive director of youth development and community engagement, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
“To that end, we are partnering with Kids’ Food Basket to continue food distribution to those children and families in our community who need our support.”
The meals will be served “grab-and-go” style in parking lots or open spaces outside on the property.
Meal sacks will be available for pick-up at the following locations from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday:
- Miss Tracey’s Market, 1043 Franklin St. SE, Grand Rapids
- Madison Square Church, 1441 Madison Ave. SE, Grand Rapids
- La Casa de la Cobija, 2355 S. Division Ave., Grand Rapids
- New City Kids, 960 Alpine Ave. NW, Grand Rapids
- David D. Hunting YMCA, 475 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids
The Y may open additional sites if needed or alter locations based on demand.
