A yoga business has found a home in town.

AM said yesterday that it will open its first permanent location at 560 Fifth St. NW in Grand Rapids to offer classes seven days a week and a dedicated space for meditation.

It is slated to open in April.

AM has been offering sessions in homes, businesses and other locations, which will continue through its teAM program.

“Until now, we have offered sessions in a variety of settings,” said Ashley Yost, co-owner, AM. “We are excited to create a space that will allow us to provide additional offerings.”

AM will continue its Community Club, which hosts sessions at area organizations, such as Downtown Market and St. Cecilia’s Music Center.

“We love working with companies to enhance their culture,” said Mali Jane, co-owner, AM.

Jane added that “cultivating a community of people within an organization who are happy and healthy” improves productivity, creativity, emotional intelligence, wellness and reduces stress.

Yost and Jane worked with Grand Rapids-based Rockford Construction to find a space, settling on the city’s west side, where the pair will continue their donation-based classes.

“We first met Mali and Ashley when they held public classes in our office’s community space,” said Mike Mraz, partner of real estate development, Rockford Construction.

Mraz added that the studio is located in a renovated building that houses “a diverse blend” of offices and adjacent warehouse space.

“Adding a yoga studio to the mix is a great use for the building and a benefit to the neighborhood,” Mraz said.
