Adventure Credit Union President and CEO Ann Marie Nelson has tendered her resignation after three productive years as the organization’s leader. Under Nelson’s leadership, the credit union has made great strides with their key initiatives.
Nelson is a veteran of the credit union industry with more than 30 years of experience. Having helped Adventure navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and find its footing on a path toward long-term success, Nelson is confident that now is the right time for her to step down as CEO and return to her roots in Human Resources. She has accepted an executive level human resources position with another financial institution.
Amanda Garabedian, Adventure’s COO, on Sept. 6 assumed the role as the credit union’s interim CEO. Garabedian has more than 15 years of experience in credit union leadership and financial technologies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Western Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University.
When asked about the transition, Nelson explained: “I have so enjoyed my time here, I am proud of what we have accomplished together; I am looking forward to what Adventure will accomplish in the years to come.”
Added Garabedian, “It is an honor to be stepping into this new role as interim CEO. We have an amazing team at Adventure, and I love being part of this organization. With the strength of our team, and the guidance of our board of directors, I’m confident the credit union will continue to excel.”
