Architect Selected For New Hotel

GRAND RAPIDS — Alticor Inc. has chosen Lohan Caprile Goettsch Architects of Chicago and BETA Design Group of Grand Rapids to design its new hotel in downtown Grand Rapids

The planned 300- to 400-room hotel will be located near the corner of Pearl Street and Campau Avenue, just across the street from the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel.

According to Alticor, the new hotel is expected to enhance local officials’ ability to market the DeVos Place Convention Center and help attract new and larger convention business.

The Chicago firm’s work includes The Four Seasons Mumbai, the Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo and Chicago’s UBS Tower.

BETA Design has worked on projects such as Calvin’s Crossing, the Helen DeVos Health Pavilion at Spectrum Health and the Van Andel Living Shores Aquarium at the John Ball Zoo.

Alticor co-founders Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel initiated the hotel project and, like the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, the new one will be owned and operated by Alticor.
