Battle Creek Unlimited, the economic development organization for the cities of Battle Creek, Marshall and Springfield, was recognized for its marketing materials by the Mid-America Economic Development Council (MAEDC).
Winning the highest level award given by MAEDC for its Annual Development Materials Competition, BCU was recognized with the Award of Excellence for its print brochures and Web site, www.bcunlimited.org, promoting Battle Creek. The awards were presented Dec. 5 in Chicago at the Swissôtel during the 2006 Mid-America Annual Competitiveness Conference.
“We’re delighted to know our materials position Battle Creek favorably,” said Cheryl Beard, project manager for the print marketing materials and Web site, adding that Battle Creek has some world-class Internet tools. Beard is also responsible for Battle Creek’s Web site targeting relocating professionals, www.welcometobattlecreek.com, and the Battle Creek Unlimited community homepage, www.bcuknowledgenow.org
MAEDC sponsors the competition to recognize and stimulate the creative use of quality marketing materials by economic development organizations throughout the 10-state Mid-America region in promoting their respective communities.
A four-person peer judging panel met in November to critique all entries and select appropriate award winners.
Entries were judged on functionality, completeness, design, production quality, visual impact and uniqueness.
The MAEDC mission is to enhance economic developers’ professional knowledge, capabilities and opportunities through multi-state networking, education, and site selector interaction. CQX
