GRAND RAPIDS — Duane Gunnink, of Gunnink and DeVries Builders Inc., has been named the 2001 president of the Home and Building Association of Greater Grand Rapids.
The other new officers of the association are:

- Dan Hibma, of Land & Homes Inc., secretary
- Dan Vredevoogd, of Rivertown Builders LLC, treasurer

The association is a professional trade organization with nearly 1,352 company members representing more than 70,000 employees.
Serving as its executive vice president is Judy Barnes, CAE. She has held the post for nearly 17 years. The support staff of the association consists of 18 full-time employees and one part-time employee who carry out the association’s policy decisions.
The association was formed in 1945 with 18 builder members.
More than 560 of today’s member companies are builders, with the remaining members being associated businesses in the industry.
In terms of membership size and strength the association ranks 14th in the country out of over 560.
The association sponsors the community’s annual Home Expo show, the Showcase of Remodeled Homes, the spring and autumn Parade of Homes and the Home Idea Expo set for Nov. 2 to 4 this year.
The association’s mission statement for the association is: “The Home and Building Association of Greater Grand Rapids is an organization of diverse professionals striving to provide quality homes, buildings, renovations, products and services addressing the needs of the entire community. As a voice of the industry, the association promotes a wide range of services and events, charitable involvement, education and Smart Growth.”
