According to Sally Zimmer, marketing director for the new independent living community, the first two of six buildings in Phase I of the project will be complete and ready for occupancy in late September or October.
The community — sited at 2499 Forest Hill Ave. SE on Keller Lake in Kentwood — will include 84 town homes and a community center. The 97-year-old not-for-profit is accepting reservations for the new community.
The six Phase I buildings will contain 23 living units. Each of the six buildings will enclose two to five living units.
Zimmer said the homes range in size from 1,399 to 1,533 square feet and will feature cathedral ceilings, one or two-car garages, covered porches and a number of other options.
At the groundbreaking in May, Patricia Bergstrom, president of the Clark board of directors, told the Business Journal that Clark Retirement Community has wanted for some time to add more retirement residents to what she termed its continuum of care.
“We have had a waiting list for our independent living town homes on Franklin Street for several years now,” she said.
“We know there is strong interest among retirees in this type of residence.”
Robert Perl, executive director for Clark, says one reason behind the popularity of Clark’s independent living accommodations, is that the firm is a continuing care retirement community offering comprehensive residential and health care service ranging from independent living through skilled nursing care.
“Anyone who is a resident of Clark Retirement Community,” he stressed, “is guaranteed accommodations and health care services at whatever level is needed … for life.”
He said Clark’s residents and their relatives have peace of mind knowing that care is available as long as it’s required.
The new community — called Clark on Keller Lake — LIES on 32 wooded acres on which two care facilities already operate: Oxford and Windsor Manors.
Perl said the new community brings its residents within easy view of a wooded setting with numerous peaceful and secluded trails.
He also said, however, that the community is located near shopping and medical facilities.
The organization advised that residents interested in reserving a home in Clark on Keller or finding out more about the new community should call Zimmer, 452-1568.
