DeVos, Van Andel Numbers In

GRAND RAPIDS — The un-audited fiscal year figures reveal that

    DeVos Place

lost fewer dollars than was initially projected, while the Van Andel Arena had a slightly smaller surplus than was forecasted.

For the fiscal year, which ran from July 1 to June 30, the convention center lost nearly $1.17 million, or about $430,000 less than the $1.6 million loss that was projected. About $530,000 of that overall loss occurred during the last seven months of FY04, the time that the new

    DeVos Place

    was open for business.

Figures for the first five months of the fiscal year are attributed to the GrandCenter, the former, smaller convention facility that closed at the end of November.

The arena showed a surplus of $1.43 million for the fiscal year, just $30,000 below the building’s forecast.
