The X99 collection is the product of collaboration between Haworth and the ITO Design Group in Germany.
The product line, featuring translucent mesh backing, includes high-back executive, task, guest and seminar seating.
Ken Krayer, Haworth’s director of design, said the new line of chairs is designed to give an office a consistent look throughout the building.
Through its collaboration with ITO Design, Haworth was able to take an existing European design and tweak it for the American market to come up with X99, Krayer said.
The X99 debuted last week at NeoCon and is intended to work well with the “if” office system that Haworth introduced a year ago.
The new seating line is indicative of the higher importance workers place on their seating today, Krayer said.
“The seating is the personality of the office environment. Nobody walks around when they leave their job (saying), ‘Oh, I want to take that office system with me,’” Krayer said.
In addition to the X99, Haworth used NeoCon to roll out its new Wing Lamp and Mindsweeper desk lamps, as well as enhancements to its Race furniture system that features a silver finish, curvilinear work surfaces and glass window partitions to separate work areas.
The changes to Race are designed to meet a growing trend within the office furniture industry for product with different aesthetics.
“This is such as successful product. We really wanted to give it a fresh look because it really is well situated to things that are changing in the marketplace right now,” Krayer said.
