CASCADE TOWNSHIP — Hund-Fink Acquisitions LLC sealed the deal to buy a 120-acre parcel at 5100 28th St. SW from National Amusements, site of the 10-screen Showcase Cinemas. The deal closed last Thursday.
Partners Jeff Hundley and Ed and Mark Finkelstein plan to develop 65 of those acres into a retail center. A hotel is also possible for the site.
The prime piece of property, near I-96, was valued at $8 million.
The theater closed Sunday night and National Amusements has until the end of the month to remove its equipment from the building. Demolition of the theater will likely begin in February and construction on the 500,000-square-foot retail center is expected to start in the fall.
Hundley is a director of Colburn Hundley Inc., a commercial real estate firm located in downtown Grand Rapids. Mark Finkelstein is an associate Realtor at Colburn Hundley.
