Lake Express Ready To Sail

MUSKEGON — The Lake Express ferry service between Muskegon and Milwaukee will take to the open waters beginning May 14.

“Last year was a fantastic inaugural season for LakeExpress. With more than 100,000 passenger crossings of Lake Michigan, the new service exceeded expectations,” said President Ken Szallai. “And 2005 is shaping up to be another record-setting year.”

Next month, a series of onboard improvements are scheduled, including a redesign of the premier class area and additional ride stabilization technology.

Szallai said fares would remain the same for 2005: $42.50 each way for adults; $20 each way for children 5 to 15; and children 4 and under travel free. Cars are carried for $59 each way, and a fuel surcharge of $1.25 per crossing is added to ticket prices.
