Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids is now providing management services to the Mercy Health Partners inpatient rehabilitation unit in Muskegon.
The agreement adds another unit to the growing Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Network.
Dr. Harrison Johnson, MHP’s medical director for the unit, will continue in that capacity, according to a joint announcement. MHP’s current therapists and nursing staff will deliver rehabilitation services, while Mary Free Bed will provide management services to the unit, which is located at MHP’s Hackley Campus.
The MHP inpatient rehabilitation unit exceeds regional and national norms in quality care for high-acuity patients with shorter lengths of stay and more patients returning to their homes.
“This agreement paves the way for us to provide our outstanding rehabilitation services to more patients,” said Lisa Rose, director of rehab at MHP.
“Collaborating with Mercy Health Partners will allow us to reach more people on the lakeshore and strengthen our mutual commitment to providing excellent patient care and outcomes,” said Mary Free Bed CEO Kent Riddle.
Roger Spoelman, president and CEO of MHP, said the collaboration “is a natural fit. It is through these types of partnerships that health care organizations will help the West Michigan community continue to grow and expand access to high-quality care.”
The Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Network was announced last June.
