The new office/refrigerated cross-dock distribution facility, which covers 65,000 square feet, is located on Clyde Park Avenue, near M-6 and U.S. 131, and will officially open on March 1.
The timing of the project was critical, according to Mast officials, because the company wanted to be up and running prior to the spring flower season, around March 1. When the proposal was made in June 2002, Olga Hallstedt, an industrial adviser for CB Richard Ellis, knew time was of the essence. She said a quick site search, purchase and build project was needed, so she set to work.
In searching for the perfect site for the new building, Hallstedt prepared a detailed site search and analysis for Mast and 16.5 acres of a 35-acre parcel was selected.
Working closely with Moore & Bruggink (civil engineering) and Wolverine Building Group, CB Richard Ellis secured site plan approval in August and construction began in September.
The building will include 15,000 square feet of cooler space, which will be kept at a constant 58 degrees. Half of the warehousing space can also be turned into a temporary cooler for the peak floral distribution season.
