LANSING — The Michigan Economic Development Corp. has signed an agreement with the state’s 650-member Commercial Board of Realtors that will grant economic development officials at the local and state level access to the Commercial Property Information Exchange System.
CPIX — a database of more than 20,000 listings of available commercial and industrial properties — is a significant upgrade for the MEDC and its local affiliates. Currently available on the MEDC Web site, www.michigan.org, the database replaces Mysite.net, an antiquated system the state has used for several years.
Some 2,300 brokers and property owners contribute pictures, maps, site plans, surveys, leases and legal documents from which customized reports and maps can be produced. To keep the information fresh, entries not validated and updated every 30 days are automatically removed from the system.
Through the deal, the state’s approximately 80 economic development offices will become dues-paying members of CBOR and CPIX. Properties offered by a municipal or government organization will now automatically be listed on CPIX, as well.
