Rally Sets Record Tally


    GRAND RAPIDS — The most successful Rally for Hope and Hunger ever raised $86,912 for two local organizations, reported Rockford Construction Co., the event’s founder.

    The proceeds from this summer’s rally were split between the Van Andel Institute and God’s Kitchen, with each receiving $43,456 last week at a check-presentation ceremony hosted by Rockford Co. Chairman John Wheeler.

    Chase President Richard Haslinger was presented with a new 2008 Harley Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Dyna as the rally’s raffle winner. The motorcycle is valued at $29,000.

    More than 1,000 people attended this year’s event, which featured over 500 riders.
