Grand Rapids broke ground on a new $38-million biodigester and sludge treatment system, 1300 Market Ave. SW, with a projected 2019 completed date. The biodigester will produce about 60 percent of the electricity needs of the city’s Water Resource Recovery Facility.

Wolverine Building Group announced senior project managers Bill PursifullJamerson M. Rise and Troy Redman were promoted to vice presidency.

Zeeland-based electrical contractor Town & Country Group announced its merger with Midland based Pyramid Control.

The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan moved to 349 S. Division Ave.

Grand Rapids is among 12 U.S. cities selected to participate in the three-year pilot program, Zero Cities Project, that helps cities develop a policy roadmap toward a zero carbon building sector. The policy process will include community collaboration that centers on equity and is informed by technical analysis.

Planet Fitness will open a new club with more than 16,000 square feet in Big Rapids early next spring.

Grand Rapids-based Meritage Hospitality Group Inc. announced it acquired two Wendy’s restaurants in Virginia and entered into three independent definitive asset purchase agreements to acquire a total of 55 Wendy’s restaurants located in the Eastern and Midwestern United States. The transactions are subject to customary due diligence and standard approvals with closings scheduled to be completed during the first quarter of 2018.

Union Bank opened a new branch in Ada within the Ada First LLC building at 523 Ada Drive SE. 

Triangle Associates’ James D. Conner, vice president of business development, was appointed to the operations committee of the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority. 

Byce & Associates Inc. in Kalamazoo announced the additions of Angela Tibaudo, administrative project coordinator; Rick Eshlaman, senior civil engineer; Ron Cook, senior electrical designer; Trevor Richardson, mechanical engineer; and Tim Baker, project manager. Matthew Norko was named marketing manager, and Jason Quarry was named Building Information Modeling manager.

Miller-Davis Co. in Kalamazoo announced the hiring of Rachael Jennings, culture coordinator; Kevin Frye, project manager; Troy Geister, project superintendent, who is working on Dansville Schools’ 2016 bond program; and project engineers Amjed Al-Qudah and Allison Warner.

ASTI Environmental received $200 million in incentives via grants, tax credits, loans and tax increment financing to redevelop distressed properties. 

Barry Community Health’s new facility is at 200 S. Boltwood St. in Hastings. Capacity to serve the community will be nearly doubled, accommodating 3,500 patients. Medical services offered at the center includes family practice, dental and mental health services.

Discount Tire opened its second Wyoming location at 392 54th St. SW.

Revolve Records, a shop that sells vinyl records and other music-related merchandise, will open at 453 S. Division Ave. in January 2018. The 2,706-square-foot space is almost double the size of its current location at 1606 Fuller Ave. SE.

The Gerald R. Ford International Airport and SpartanNash recently opened the Military Welcome Center near the airport’s Concourse A exit. The space is open for active military, veterans and their families 24 hours a day, and offers refreshments, charging stations, an airport arrival/departure monitor, lounging spaces, veteran profiles and programming, interactive maps and murals where military personnel and veterans can pinpoint where they have been stationed or deployed.

Wolverine Building Group’s multimillion-dollar rehabilitation project, Gateway Village in Sturgis, won the Governor’s Energy Excellence Award and The Michigan Battle of the Buildings Award. 

Cochrane Supply & Engineering relocated its Grand Rapids branch to an 8,000-square-foot facility at 1058 Scribner Ave. NW due to growing demand in the West Michigan area. 

The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce intends to relocate to 250 Monroe Ave., Grand Rapids on March 1, 2018. The building is located across from DeVos Place Convention Center.

Rockford Construction announced Brad Mathis, community development director, will serve in an expanded role within the company and lead its health care team as health care project executive.

Bradley Co. moved to the Waters Center, at 161 Ottawa Ave. NW, Suite 308, overlooking Grand Rapids’ Central Business District.

NAI Wisinski of West Michigan announced investment specialist Russ Bono earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation. NAI Wisinski now has seven agents who hold the CCIM designation. CCIM designees can help their clients minimize risk, enhance credibility, make informed decisions and close deals.

The Housing Next Leadership Council in Ottawa County hired Ryan Kilpatrick as its first director.
