Van Dyke has held the position of executive vice president of retail administration for Fifth Third Bank (Western Michigan) since April 2001.
With this change, Van Dyke assumes leadership of the Fifth Third Bank (Western Michigan) affiliate, which has $9.5 billion in assets, $6.9 billion in deposits, and 137 banking centers in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Allegan, Kalamazoo, Newaygo, Oceana, Montcalm, Ionia, Clinton, Ingham, Eaton, Jackson, Calhoun, Van Buren, Berrien, Cass, St. Joseph, and Hillsdale counties.
Van Dyke joined the bank in 1985 and since that time has held various positions, including management positions in mortgage operations and community banking.
Under Van Dyke’s leadership of retail administration, Fifth Third Bank has grown its checking, savings, and small business deposits by $660 million, or 21 percent. Loan sales per banking center have almost tripled. In her current role, Van Dyke oversees more than 1,400 employees, whose jobs are to serve 430,000 Western Michigan customers through 137 full-service banking centers and retirement centers. Van Dyke’s team is responsible for new consumer and business deposit account growth, consumer and small business loan originations, and mutual fund and annuity sales.
She is a graduate of Calvin College with a bachelor’s degree in business economics. Van Dyke currently serves on the board of directors for the YWCA and D.A. Blodgett Services for Children and Families.

Kabat, 47, has been named chairman of Fifth Third Bank, a Michigan banking corporation. He commented, “I am confident that Michelle will build on our successes in West Michigan. This should be a seamless transfer of leadership.”
