Vos Earns Family Business Award

    GRAND RAPIDS — Dan Vos Construction earned the Family Owned Business of the Year award from the Family Owned Business Council of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.

    The company was recognized with the honor recently at the eighth annual Family Owned Business Forum and took home the award over other finalists that included Model Coverall Service Inc., Rogers Department Store and Standale Lumber & Interiors.

    Dan Vos Construction, a third generation company, has been delivering building solutions in West Michigan for 52 years. By offering complete design/build, general contracting and construction management services, the business assists its clients from the initial concept, planning and design, through the final construction and move in.

    The company has developed millions of square feet of space and draws on experience in creating award-winning, cutting-edge facilities. It has built more than 135 churches and synagogues in the area and works with more than 200 other customers.

    The criteria for judging each participant consisted of an interview of the firm’s management staff to learn firsthand about its business success, strategic planning for development, governance, succession planning and community involvement.

    Family-owned business leaders including Mike Byam of Terryberry, Bob Roth of RoMan Manufacturing and John Loeks of Jack Loeks Theaters Inc./Celebration Cinema judged the finalists.
