Tomorrow the annual ATHENA Award will be given to Wall at noon, during a luncheon at the Amway Grand Plaza.
The ATHENA Award is aimed at recognizing those who have made a contribution to the Grand Rapids community, exhibited professional excellence and shown a commitment to providing leadership opportunities.
Wall’s company, Languages International Inc. is a full-service foreign language translation and interpretation services company in Grand Rapids that employs more than 70 people, a majority of which are women.
“I first met Beverly Wall a couple of years ago,” said Carleen Crawford of Crawford Communications. “I was immediately impressed with her energy and commitment. Her passion and excitement to be working in the international business community can only mean good things for the area and regional business. I am not sure where she gets her energy, but she is an inspiration. I started my own small business this year and I can only hope to be as successful as Beverly. She is my role model.”
In addition to the two businesses she runs, Wall has a list of community involvements miles long. She has earned an MBA from Grand Valley State University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Aquinas College and an associate’s degree from Davenport University.
Wall currently serves on the board of directors for Universal Technologies Associates Inc. of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
She served as president of the Cedar Springs Chamber of Commerce in 2001 and has also served as a volunteer with the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs, Executive Women’s International, Leadership West Michigan, Junior Achievement, the Grand Rapids Women’s City Club and Toastmasters International.
Wall is also president of VIEW 100, a group of executive women who meet regularly for professional development and networking opportunities.
The ATHENA Award is given annually to honor an individual who has demonstrated leadership in his/her field, opened doors for women and contributed time and talent to the community.
