Zeeland Building New Hospital

ZEELAND — Executives at Zeeland Community Hospital will outline their plans for a new facility to replace the aging 57-bed hospital.

Zeeland Community plans to relocate to a new facility it wants to develop on a 36-acre site at Washington Street and Old Chicago Drive, along the Zeeland city-Zeeland Township border.

The hospital hopes to move to a new facility by 2006, public relations coordinator Melissa Kamara said.

Hospital President Henry Veenstra will outline the building plans, financing and the future use of the existing facility during a late afternoon news conference in Zeeland.

The first Zeeland Community Hospital was built in 1927. The hospital moved to its current facility on Pine Street in 1956 and has under taken several additions and renovations over the years.            BJX
